Hi! My name is Melissa Shaw.
Welcome to our third grade classroom website. It is
my hope that this website will improve communication between
home and school as well as serve as a resource for other
educators. Classroom pictures and projects have been
added to the Now Showing section.
Please feel free to check back often and invite others to
see what exciting things are happening with Mrs. Shaw's
Shining Stars.
Parents: Welcome to
our school family! I am excited to be your child's teacher
this year and look forward to getting to know you. Please
visit the Behind the
Scenes section if you are looking for information about
our classroom. I update on a regular basis, so check back
for changes.
Students: Congratulations on making
the cut for Shaw's Shining Stars where we are setting the
stage for learning daily. Check out
the Shining Stars
section of the website to meet the cast or for links to
many educational games. Throughout the school year
this area will be updated frequently as we start new units
of study.
Educators: Welcome! Please visit the
Director's Corner
section to find many different ideas and resources for your
classroom. You will also find links to websites
that were created by wonderful teachers who inspire me on
a daily basis. In the teacher download section you will
find teacher created resources for second and third grade
MacMillan McGraw Hill Florida Treasures Reading series.
Win my "Stage for Learning Class
Act" web award.
This website is a work in progress. If you have any
comments or suggestions, I am happy to hear them.
Web links change often... please email Mrs.
Shaw if you find one that doesn't work properly.

My name is Melissa Shaw and I am currently a third grade
teacher at Ortona Elementary School. I am fortunate
to call Ortona my home for the past thirteen years.
In my fourteen years in teaching, my experience has ranged
from kindergarten through third grade. I hold a Bachelor's
and Master's Degree in Elementary Education which I received
from the University of Florida. Go Gators!
I am married to a wonderful man and have three beautiful
children that keep me on my toes. I am part of a close
knit family and enjoy spending time with my parents and
sister. I am a Grey's Anatomy fan and a dedicated
educator.
If you need to get in touch with me, email
is best; however, I am also available by school phone.
I look forward to a great school year!
